Desktop UI framework
A native shell drawn with Direct2D, with menus, dialogs, drag and drop, accessibility and the Void Rose design system built in.
Rosetta Softworks
We are building serenade, a digital audio workstation for Windows, along with the UI framework, desktop automation and agent tooling it stands on. All of it is written in-house, natively, mostly in Rust.
The DAW
A patterns-first, in-the-box digital audio workstation. Write in patterns, arrange them into songs, and mix with the instruments and effects that come with it.
Ideas start as patterns on a piano roll, then get arranged into a song.
Every instrument gets its own mixer strip, with sends and effects routed through one internal graph.
A built-in suite of instruments and effects, made alongside the DAW itself.
Free windows held together by a single spine, with workspaces and linked windows.
The engine records every edit in an append-only journal, so a session's history is kept rather than overwritten.
An optional agent can answer questions about a song or propose changes, which you accept or decline.
Foundations
serenade is built on four tools of our own. Each one does one job, and each is in daily use while the DAW takes shape.
Desktop UI framework
A native shell drawn with Direct2D, with menus, dialogs, drag and drop, accessibility and the Void Rose design system built in.
Desktop control
Lets an agent see and drive desktop apps through accessibility trees and OCR, only in apps it is allowed, with a visible glow whenever it is in control.
Context retrieval
Finds the handful of passages from docs and history that an agent needs before it starts on a task.
Agent version control
Sits beside git and records which instruction led to which change, so the history explains itself.
Questions about serenade, or about the tools behind it, are welcome.
